[0:00] Well, this morning we're going to begin a new seven-week series on the work of the Holy Spirit. And it's from this book, The Work of the Holy Spirit, an Experimental and Practical View by Octavius Winslow. [0:18] And you have met Mr. Octavius Winslow in this class before. Not so long ago, Pastor John did a series called The Precious Things of God. [0:30] And that was taken from Mr. Octavius Winslow. And so we're going to do a short series on the work of the Holy Spirit, an Experimental and Practical View. [0:43] And I want to ask you as we begin, what does he mean by experimental? What does that word mean in this context? Just anyone. [0:54] Dennis? What's your experience? It has to do with experience. It's not theoretical. It's not sort of at arm's length. This is an experimental view. [1:07] It has to do with experience. And so it has to do with feelings, reality, the things I know in my heart, the things I've experienced in my life. [1:18] And then Mr. Winslow says he wants it to be practical. In other words, useful. And again, he's really pushing back against this idea that we want to study and think about the Holy Spirit only in a theoretical or purely sort of theological, seminary sort of way. [1:39] It should make a difference in my life. It should make a difference. All scripture is God breathed and is what? [1:55] Useful, profitable. It serves a purpose. And this truth, we want it to serve a purpose in our life, to change the way I live and what I do and how I do it and how I feel and how I think and how I relate to God and how I relate to others, how I minister in the church. [2:13] This idea of what does the Holy Spirit do in my life? What is his practical usefulness, so to speak, is what we want to talk about. [2:25] That's the goal. And so, as we're going to see, that's why the Holy Spirit came. He came as a comforter. [2:35] Comforter. Is that practical? Yeah, comforter. He came as a counselor. He came as a sanctifier. He came as a witness. [2:46] He came as a life giver. And those are all practical things. The Holy Spirit guides us into the truth. He's a guide. And so you can think of Daniel Boone, right? [3:01] He was a guide into the frontier territory. Was he a man who just knew maps? No, he was a practical guide. He was there with the pioneers when they were going through the wilderness. [3:16] He knew how to take people from point A to point B. He's the doctor. We're the patient. He's the master. We're the apprentice. He's our friend. His work is practical. [3:28] It's experimental. And so that's how we want to study him. And today I want to lay the groundwork, though, for really the rest of the series. [3:42] And I want to begin at the beginning. And I want to begin with a question. And my question is, is the spirit a he or is the spirit an it? [3:55] A he, a person, or an it? What's your answer? He's a he. [4:07] He's a he. He is a person. Matthew 28, 19 says what? Go and make disciples of every nation. How's the rest of it go? Baptizing them? [4:22] In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. He is the divine third person of the Trinity. He is as much a person in the totality of what that means, to be a person. [4:37] He is as much a person as the Father is, or the Son is. And we would never, ever say that the Father is an it, or the Son is an it. [4:49] He's a person. The Holy Spirit is distinct from the Father, distinct from the Son. He's not the personality of the Father, or the personality of the Son. [5:01] He's his own distinct person. The Westminster Catechism says that each of the persons of the Trinity are equal in power and in glory. [5:13] There is so much truth packed into that little statement. That each person of the Trinity is equal in power and in glory. [5:26] The Holy Spirit, he is as glorious as God the Father is, and God the Son is. [5:38] So the Spirit is as powerful in every way as the Father is. The Father created. The Son created. [5:50] The Holy Spirit creates. The Son saves. The Spirit saves. The Father is all-powerful. The Spirit hovered over the dark waters of chaos, those chaotic waters of Genesis 1-1. [6:06] He was the agent. He was part of that creation, of creating. And he brought forth life. [6:18] The Spirit raised the Son from the dead. The Holy Spirit has power over life and death. To give life. And to take it. [6:29] To raise it up again. And in fact, the Spirit rushes in upon us like the wind. And when he does, he makes us into new creations. [6:41] That's what he does. He invades a dead soul. A dead, dark, sinful, in-the-grave soul. And he brings it to new life. [6:53] And he makes it a new creation. He raised Christ from the dead. And he is going to raise our bodies from the dead. It's just an interesting study that I would encourage you to do. [7:09] Is read Romans chapter 8. And you know the many powerful verses in Romans chapter 8. But when you read it, look for two ideas that are interwoven through that. [7:21] And the first idea is resurrection. And the second idea is what the Spirit does. The Spirit gives life. The Spirit is the Spirit of resurrection life. [7:33] And one day, he is going to raise our bodies. And so he's not merely a quality. He is not merely an attribute of God. [7:44] He is a person. And so I want to look at a bunch of verses. And a bunch of arguments. To really found this in Scripture. [7:55] And the reason I want to do this is because. Again, it's not theoretical. I think everyone in their own. I think everyone here knows this truth. In your heads. [8:07] And I really want to use Scripture to move it. Really. And put it heavily upon your heart. And so when you're living. With God. One of the aspects of that fellowship with God. [8:20] Is this communion that you have. With the Holy Spirit. The third person of the Trinity. And again. So there's not going to be anything super profound and new. [8:31] But I'm hoping that just by piling the verses on you. It in some way. Helps your spiritual life. That you're living with the Father. [8:43] You're living with the Son. And yes. You are living with the Holy Spirit. And he's a person. So let's look at some verses. I gave a handout. [8:55] And I hope everyone. I didn't know exactly how many I should print. I hope everyone has one. Or enough to at least share. And I'm going to be going through all of these at some point. But I wanted to give them to you. [9:06] So that we don't have to turn to all of these passages. But you can see them. As we're going. So you might want to have that in hand. As we go through this Sunday school lesson. [9:19] And so. Let's just look at some verses. And we start there with Matthew chapter 4. Verse 1. Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert. [9:30] To be tempted by the devil. Things. Things don't lead people. People lead people. [9:40] The Spirit was Jesus' guide. And led him into the desert. Romans 8.26. We do not know what we ought to pray for. [9:52] But the Spirit himself. Intercedes for us. With groans that words cannot express. So get that in your mind. [10:04] That when you're in that place of. I am so. I'm just hurting. Frustrated. Confused. I don't even know what to pray for. There is one who prays for you. [10:17] The Spirit himself. Intercedes. He goes. And. And so things. [10:28] It's. Don't intercede. The Spirit himself intercedes. It's not just that. The Son is praying for you. That is true. John talks about that. [10:40] That Jesus. Prays for us. But the Spirit himself. Intercedes for us. With. Groans. And. There is always this real question of. [10:53] Whose groans are these? Are they our groans? Are they his groans? And I think the. At least. What I think it's saying is. [11:03] Is that. He. So. Sympathizes with our groans. That. Our groans. That. Our groans. Become his groans. And. And he takes his groans. [11:14] To the Father. And he. Rejoices with those who rejoice. And he mourns with those who mourn. You know. We learn that. That rejoicing with those who rejoice. [11:26] And mourning with those who mourn. We learn that from the Holy Spirit. That's the fruit of the Spirit. In our life. Well we could say more. But we. We have a lot to cover here. [11:37] Here's another argument. Can you blaspheme. A mere attribute. How do you blaspheme. An it. Can you blaspheme. [11:50] The pews. Can you blaspheme. Blaspheme. This building. Can you blaspheme. A car. You can only blaspheme. [12:00] A person. Matthew chapter 12. Verse 31. Says. And so I tell you. Every sin. And blasphemy. Will be forgiven men. But blasphemy. [12:12] Against the Spirit. Will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word. Against the Son of Man. Will be forgiven. But anyone who speaks. Against the Holy Spirit. [12:23] Will not be forgiven. Either in this age. Or in the age to come. We're going to put aside. The exact. The question of exactly. [12:34] What is that blasphemy. That he's talking about. Against the Spirit. But just to say. Jesus here. Is definitely. [12:45] Not talking about. A mere attribute of God. Or a mere force. Or this. How would you put it. This shapeless. Amorphous. [12:57] Blob. Of divinity. This. Force. Of God. Or something like that. It doesn't make. Any sense to say. Blasphemy. [13:08] Against God. Will be forgiven. But blasphemy. Against this force. Or this. Single attributes. This power of God. Won't be forgiven. Jesus. [13:18] Is talking about. A person. The third person. Of the Trinity. And that third person. Of the Trinity. And his work. In the context. Is given. A special protection. Or it's. [13:28] Just seen for. What it is. That if you. Are blaspheming. The one. Who. Is doing. The work of God. [13:39] In people's lives. In people's hearts. If you. Blaspheme. The one. Who can save you. And you're. Set yourself. Against him. You'll not be forgiven. [13:50] How could you be forgiven. You've hardened yourself. Into the state of. Of saying. What is God. What is God like. What is godly. You've now said. That's of the devil. [14:04] So let's go on. Again. We're laying the groundwork. We're asking the question. Is the spirit. It. Or a he. A thing. Or a person. [14:14] A person. So let me ask you. Is. Is speaking. A personal. Action. And as I thought about that. Things are a little bit different. [14:26] Than they were in. Octavius Winslow's day. Aren't they. Anymore. Things do speak. Don't they. Sometimes. You've seen those. Amazon echoes. [14:36] And they'll talk to people. But even then. Those have been programmed. By people. So. Is people. Who speaks. Who says things. [14:47] Who enters into a conversation. Is it. A thing. Or a. An it. Or a person. Well. Mark 13. 11. Whenever you are arrested. [14:58] And brought to trial. Do not worry beforehand. About what to say. Just say. Whatever is given you. At that. Time. [15:10] For it is not you speaking. But the Holy Spirit. So the Holy Spirit speaks. Or. Acts 13. 2. While they were worshiping. [15:21] The Lord. And fasting. The Holy Spirit said. We don't know how he said that. But the Holy Spirit said. He. Set apart for me. Barnabas. [15:32] And Saul. For the work. To which. I have called them. That's a. That's a fascinating verse. Who is speaking. There. Who is saying. Set apart for me. [15:44] Paul and Barnabas. The Holy Spirit. And. And who are Paul and Barnabas. Set apart for. For the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit. [15:57] Has his fingers. All over this work. This missionary work. It's him calling. It's him planning. It's him taking men. [16:08] And saying. These are mine. I'm going to use them. So the Holy Spirit. Is speaking. The Holy Spirit. Is setting in motion. [16:19] This world. Wide. Expansion. Of the church. The Holy Spirit. Is. A missionary. Person. He plans. [16:31] Missions. He goes on. Mission. He. Has established. The whole. Mission. And he is the one. Who's carrying it out. But we're talking about. [16:43] The Holy Spirit. Speaking. Acts 21. 11. This is. Agabus. The prophet. Speaking. The Holy Spirit. Says. In this same way. [16:53] The Jews of Jerusalem. Will bind the owner. Of this belt. And will hand him over. To the Gentiles. Agabus. Had said. You know what. Paul. If you go to Jerusalem. You're going to be bound up. [17:03] And he took his belt. And bound him. And. Agabus. Says. This is what the Holy Spirit. Says. There's more. First Timothy. Four. One. The Spirit. [17:15] Clearly. Says. That in later. Times. Or Hebrews. Chapter. Three. Verse. Seven. So. As the Holy Spirit. [17:25] Says. Today. If you hear his voice. Do not harden your hearts. So. My question is. Whose. Voice. [17:36] Do you hear. In the scriptures. Because. Hebrews. Chapter. Three. Verse. Seven. Is a quotation. It's a quotation. From the Old Testament. [17:48] So. Whose voice. Specifically. Do you hear. In the scriptures. The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit's voice. [18:01] It's not a force. It's not an it. It's the spirit of God. Speaking. To you. You've heard. His voice. [18:12] When you've read. The scriptures. The scriptures. Are the copy. The transcript. The record. Of what the Holy Spirit. [18:24] Has said. Well. There's a lot more. The. The spirit speaks. And he thinks. And he feels. And he knows. And he understands. [18:35] And so. Out of the fullness. Of. Of his person. Out of the fullness. Of what is in his heart. He speaks. What else? He witnesses. He testifies. [18:47] We don't have things. That testify. When you call a witness. You don't call an object. To testify. You call a person. To testify. And so. [19:00] Here's. Acts chapter 5. Verse 31. God exalted him. To his own right hand. As prince. And savior. That he might give. [19:10] Repentance. And forgiveness. Of sins. To Israel. We are witnesses. Of these things. That's the apostles. We're witnessing. To you. And so. Is the Holy Spirit. [19:20] Whom God has given. To those. Who obey him. There's this. Remember. The matter. Will be established. By the testimony. Of two or three witnesses. [19:32] And so. Here you have. How has this matter. Been established. That Jesus Christ. Is raised. To the highest place. And he has been. Given authority. To give. And grant. Repentance. [19:43] To Israel. To the people. Of God. Well. Who has established this? The testimony. Of the apostles. Is the first witness. The apostles. As a group. [19:54] And then the Holy Spirit. Himself. And he did it. Through signs. And wonders. Miraculous things. That only God. Can do. So the. Apostles. [20:05] Open their mouths. And witness. To the reality. And of the saving power. Of Jesus Christ. And that very same action. Is. Attributed. To the Holy Spirit. [20:17] Now. The apostles. Witness. Was literal. It wasn't figurative. And so the same. Must be true. Of the Holy Spirit. Romans 8. 16. The Spirit. [20:29] Himself. Testifies. With our spirit. That we are God's children. The Spirit's witness. In our own hearts. Is a personal witness. Jesus. Acts 5. [20:42] Talks about. The Spirit. Witnessing. To the world. Acts 5. Is. About. The Spirit. Taking his megaphone. So to speak. And. And. Shouting. [20:53] To the whole world. The truth. Of Jesus Christ. Romans 8. 16. Is something. More personal. More quiet. The Spirit's witness. In our own hearts. [21:04] And it's not metaphorical. Or it's not some force. Or attribute. The Holy Spirit. Sits down with us. Looks us in the face. [21:14] Heart to heart. Face to face. And testifies. To us. Of the truth. That we are indeed. God's children. We're so used to that. [21:28] We can't imagine. How profound. And amazing. That kind of statement is. That. It really is. Unbelievable. Had not the Holy Spirit. [21:39] Himself. Said to you. You're God's children. And so when you pray. You can pray. Abba Father. Just like Jesus did. Well. [21:52] This. What else? The Spirit knows. The Spirit knows. Those things. Do the pews. Know things. [22:03] Does gravity. Does electricity. Does force. Power. Does. Does a man's. Even personality. Know anything. Does God's power. [22:16] Know. People know. First Corinthians. Chapter 2. 10 and 11. This is an amazing verse. [22:28] The Spirit searches. All things. Can you imagine. The Spirit. Searching all things. He searches all things. [22:39] Even the deep things. Of God. For who among men. Knows the thoughts. Of a man. Except the man's. Spirit within him. In the same way. [22:49] No one knows. The thoughts of God. Except for the Spirit. Of God. I want you to think. Of how great. The knowledge. Of the Holy Spirit is. [23:04] He searches. The very deepest things. Of God's heart. He knows. All there is. To know. About God. What we will take. [23:16] Forever. And ever. In eternity. To just start to scratch. The surface. Of. And never. Reach the bottom. Of. The Holy Spirit. Is like. A cave diver. And he has. [23:28] Gone down. Into the very deepest. Darkest. Parts of God's heart. And he is searched. And he knows. And that should change. The way that we think about. [23:39] Even what the word of God says. If this is the Holy Spirit. Speaking. Then this is the. The voice of the one. Who knows. All things. He has searched them out. [23:51] He knows them. Well there is more. He does miracles. Who gave Paul the ability. To do miracles. Romans 15. [24:02] 19. By the power of signs. And miracles. Through the power of the spirit. Spirit. So the. Spirit is not merely. [24:12] The power of God. This. Impersonal attribute. The spirit. Has his own power. And he. Used it. To give Paul. [24:22] The ability. To do signs. And miracles. And wonders. He has. Spiritual life. John 6. 63. The spirit. [24:32] Gives life. You can't give. What you don't have. But he is so full of life. He can. Give life. To others. [24:44] Spiritual life. To others. First. Peter 3. 18. Speaking. Of. Jesus Christ. He was put to death. In the body. But made alive. By the spirit. [24:55] That goes back. To what we had. Talked about. He has. Not only. Spiritual life. He has. Physical life. He sends out. [25:08] Acts 13. 14. The apostles. Were sent. By the Holy Spirit. He calls. Men. To be. Elders. In churches. Acts 20. [25:20] Verse. 28. Keep. Watch. Over yourselves. Here's Paul. He's talking. To the. Ephesian. Elders. Keep. Watch. Over yourselves. And all. [25:30] The flock. Of which. The Holy Spirit. Has made you. Overseers. There is. That is. Of great. Comfort. To me. [25:42] Personally. The. The Holy Spirit. Is the one. Who makes. Men. To be. Overseers. There's. A process. By which. [25:52] The church. Recognizes. The work. Of the Holy Spirit. But. A church. Doesn't. Make. Men. Overseers. The Holy Spirit. Does. The Holy Spirit. [26:03] Is the one. Who made me. An overseer. He did it. It was his choice. His will. His grace. And. Even. Better than that. He's the one. Who made. [26:13] Me. An overseer. Of. This flock. Do you notice. How. In a certain way. The Holy Spirit. Is this matchmaker. He takes. [26:25] Elders. He takes. Pastors. And he joins them. To certain flocks. And so. I'm not a pastor. Of. Other churches. No authority. No. [26:35] Oversight. Of them. But. This church. I have that. Authority. And oversight. Why? Well. Because the Holy Spirit. Has attached us. Has put us together. Together. So the Spirit. [26:48] Joins. Shepherd. And sheep. It's not some person. Or some power. It's a person. The Spirit. [26:59] Does what he wants. Does the Holy Spirit. Have a will. Of his own. Yes. Acts. 15. 28. This is the council. [27:10] Of Jerusalem. And this is the apostles. Writing. And. This is what. It says. It seemed good. To the Holy Spirit. And to us. [27:21] Not to burden you. With anything. Beyond the following. Requirements. Just a few things. That they wanted. The Gentiles. To remember. And to do. It seemed good. [27:33] To the Holy Spirit. Seemed good. The Holy Spirit. Thought about. The best course. Of action. The best way. To accomplish. [27:44] What he wanted. To accomplish. The best course. For the Jerusalem council. And the Holy Spirit. Thought it was best. To just give you. These following. Few. Requirements. [28:00] The Spirit. Is grieved. How do we know. He's a person. And not it. Spirit. Is grieved. [28:10] Isaiah 63. 10. Yet they rebelled. And grieved. The Holy Spirit. Ephesians chapter 4. [28:20] Verse 30. Do not grieve. The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit. Has holy. Divine. Emotions. Affections. His holy. [28:33] Personal. Emotions. Rebellion. Resistance. That was what was going on. In Israel. And as they rebelled. [28:44] And as they. Didn't like the yoke. That God had put upon them. And they. Vexed him. That was. The old word. That rebellion. And that resistance. [28:57] Grieved. The Holy Spirit. In Ephesians chapter 40. Or. In Ephesians chapter 4. Verse 30. It's talking about. When the church. In the body. [29:08] Doesn't get along. And there's problems. And there's strife. And there's disturbing. The peace. That's sort of the context. Of where Paul says. Do not grieve. The Holy Spirit. That tells me. [29:19] Something else. It tells me. That when a church. Is living in unity. And peace. That brings. Holy joy. To the Holy Spirit. He's the one. [29:29] That gives. The fruit of. The Spirit. Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Gentleness. All those things. That. [29:40] Are part of. That flow. That go. In between. All the members. When they're dwelling. In peace. When those things are there. The Holy Spirit. It's like a. A sweet aroma. [29:51] To him. But when there's fighting. He's grieved. So. We could probably say more. But. [30:01] I guess. What I want. I think. What I've said. Is enough. Just to remind you. Of this truth. And. I hope. It is to settle you. And to. To even shock you. [30:12] In a certain way. Of this truth. That the Holy Spirit. Is the divine. Third person. Of the Trinity. Equal. In power. And in glory. With the Father. [30:23] And of the Son. Sometimes. Theologians. Call him. The shy. Member of the Trinity. And I see. The truth. That they're. Getting at. [30:35] But. And. And he is the one. Who testifies. To the Father. And to the Son. He is the one. That tells us. About Jesus. [30:45] He's the one. That takes the soul. And brings that soul. To Jesus. Jesus. It's not enough. That the Spirit. Just takes the soul. And he doesn't take it. For himself. So much. [30:56] As he brings it. To Jesus Christ. And that marriage. Of Christ. And that soul. Is what saves sinners. But. That idea. That he's the shy. [31:07] Member of the Trinity. Should in no way. Be construed. Should be thought of. To think. That the Spirit. Doesn't. Clearly speak. [31:19] About himself. Because. Where do we. Find out. About the Holy Spirit. That he is equal. In glory. And power. [31:30] We find it. In the scriptures. Which is God breathed. Which is inspired. By the Holy Spirit. The idea. Can never. And should never. Be construed. So that we think. Of the Spirit. As somehow. [31:41] A mere. Third wheel. The not quite so important. The not quite so God. [31:53] Or the not quite so real. The not quite so personal. He is God. And he is as much. God. [32:04] And as distinctly. God. As the Father. And the Son. Are. Well. We have about seven minutes. [32:15] I want to give you. Some just practical. What do you do? What does all this mean? How should we react to that? What should you do. [32:25] With that truth? Because again. We want this to be experimental. And so I am hoping. That the truth of God's word. Is. You have experienced it. On your heart. And your soul. [32:35] That he is God. And you are. Experiencing that. In your heart. But practically. What does all that mean? How should we react to that? A couple things. [32:48] The first is. We should worship him. As God. We should worship the spirit. As God. [32:58] The spirit himself. Is worthy. Of worship. So what do we do. In worship. [33:10] Just give me some things. What. What's the heart motivation. Of worship. Or what are some of the heart motivations. Of worship. Praise. [33:21] What else. Why do we praise. Something. Why do we worship anything. Adoration. We adore it. We think it's. [33:33] Amazing. Whatever that thing is. And. In the case of God. We. We. Think. God is amazing. And we. Adore him. What does. [33:44] Adore mean. You. You. Love it. You. Stand. [33:55] Amazed. At. Whatever you're. Adoring. Adore. So we should. Worship him. As God. The spirit. Is worthy. Of worship. He gave you. [34:07] Life. That's. Both physical. And spiritual. The reason. [34:19] You are a Christian. Is because. Something. That the spirit. Did. He gave you. Spiritual. Life. He came. [34:29] Into your. Dead soul. He. Turned. The lights. On. He. Invaded. It. He. Hovered. Over. Those. Dark. Chaos. Waters. Of your. [34:40] Soul. And he. Gave. You. Life. You're. Born. Again. Because. Of the spirit. He. [34:53] Has. That. Power. He. Did. That. So. He's. Worthy. Of. Thanksgiving. And. Praise. Because. That's. [35:03] What. He. Did. So. Think. Where. Would. You. Be. Right. Now. Just. Put. This. In. A. Trinitarian. Context. Where. Would. Where. Would. You. [35:14] Be. Right. Now. If. The. Father. Planned. Your. Salvation. And. The. Son. Executed. Your. Salvation. And. Then. There. Was. No. Holy. Spirit. Where. Would. You. Be. What. [35:27] Would. Have. Happened. The. Whole. Thing. The. Whole. Plan. The. Whole. Salvation. Would. Have. Just. Miscarried. And. Where. Would. You. Be. Right. [35:37] Now. You. Be. Dead. In. Your. Sins. And. Christ. Death. Would. Have. Meant. Nothing. To. You. And. You. Would. Be. Fighting. And. Warring. Against. [35:47] God. To. This. Day. The. Reason. You. Are. A. Friend. And. Not. Just. The. Enemy. Of. God. It. Because. The. Holy. Spirit. Is. Come. In. And. Give. You. New. Life. He. [35:58] Teaches. You. He. Reveals. Christ. To. You. There's. This. Veil. Over. Their. Hearts. There. Was. This. Veil. Over. Our. Hearts. And. The. Holy. Spirit. [36:08] Is. The. One. Who. Takes. Away. The. Veil. So. That. We. Can. See. Jesus. Christ. It. It. It. It. Not. Just. Done. It. Just. Doesn't. Happen. The. Spirit. Of. God. [36:18] Does. That. And. So. We. Should. Thank. Him. And. Praise. Him. For. His. Work. That. He. Has. Done. In. In. My. Heart. Think. About. Where. [36:28] You. Would. Be. Without. Him. So. We. Should. Thank. Him. And. Praise. Him. For. His. Work. [36:39] Is. It. Right. To. Pray. To. Him. I. Think. It. Is. And. We. Actually. Do. That. When. We. Sing. Oh. Spirit. Come. But. [36:50] Strength. In. Every. Stride. Give. Grace. For. Every. Hurdle. I. Think. It's. Right. And. Fitting. To. Pray. And. Ask. For. His. Personal. Ministry. [37:01] When. We. Pray. We. Pray. Trinitarianly. And. Then. That. Trinitarian. Prayer. Can. Take. Different. Shapes. And. Forms. There's. No. Strict. Formula. [37:13] But. When. We. Pray. We. Recognize. And. We. Understand. Each. Member. Of. The. Trinity. Their. Distinct. Role. Their. Distinct. Role. In. Our. Salvation. And. The. Distinct. [37:23] Way. That. We. Relate. To. Them. John. Owen. Has. A. Whole. Big. Book. The. Puritan. John. Owen. On. Communion. With. God. And. He. Divides. It. Into. [37:33] Three. Parts. Of. Of. How. Do. You. Relate. To. God. And. He. Talks. About. How. We. Relate. To. God. The. Father. And. It's. Different. Than. How. We. Relate. To. God. The. Son. [37:44] And. That's. Different. Too. From. How. We. Relate. To. The. Holy. Spirit. And. I guess. What. I'm. Saying. Is. When. We. Pray. And. [38:04] Want. To. Know. Jesus. More. Do. You. Want. To. See. Him. More. Clearly. Ask. Him. That's. His. Ministry. Do. [38:14] You. Want. To. Feel. And. Feel. In. Your. Bones. More. The. Reality. That. I'm. A. Child. Of. God. Do. Want. More. Of. That. Comfort. More. That. Joy. And. More. That. Strength. [38:24] And. Satisfaction. So. [38:36] How do we react. To all the. What we saw. Today. We should. Worship. And. Thank him. And. Secondly. We should. Live. With him. As a. Person. We should. Live. With him. As a. Person. Not. [38:47] As a. Thing. Not. As someone. That you. Can't. Relate. To. Not. As something. That you. Can't. Relate. To. Person. [38:58] Lives. In. Us. He. Is. Our. Forever. Roommate. Psalm. 139. And. Where. Can. I. Go. From. Your. Spirit. He's. Come. To. His. [39:08] Temple. Your. Body. Is. The. Temple. Of. The. Holy. Spirit. The. Temple. Was. The. Place. Where. The. Where. The. God. Dwelt. You. [39:19] Are. Now. The. Place. Where. God. Dwells. By. His. Spirit. And. So. What. Fear. What. Joy. What. Constant. Awareness. [39:30] Should. We. Have. We. Should. Live. With. Him. As. A. Person. He. Is. Here. He's. Here. And. I. Should. [39:40] Love. Him. The. Holy. Spirit. Is. Worthy. Of. All. Of. Your. Love. And. Your. Affection. All. Your. Trust. And. All. Your. Obedience. And. So. Love. Him. [39:50] As. The. Spirit. Love. The. Spirit. Love. Him. For. Who. He. Is. Love. Him. For. His. Humility. To. Come. Dwell. In. [40:00] A. Temple. Like. Mine. Love. Him. For. His. Kindness. Love. Him. For. His. Patience. Think. About. How. Much. He. Puts. Up. With. Think. About. How. [40:11] Much. He. Sees. And. He. Loves. Us. Still. And. So. Love. Him. For. How. He. Loves. You. Isn't. That. A. Wonderful. [40:21] Thought. Father. Son. And. Holy. Spirit. Each. Of. Them. Love. Us. And. So. Stir. Up. Your. Hearts. Then. Resolve. Then. To. Worship. Him. To. Love. [40:31] Him. To. Rejoice. In. The. Spirit. Of. God. He's. Your. God. He's. Your. Savior. And. So. Love. Him. Well. Our time. Is. Gone. We're. Dismissed.
